Wren Howison (they/them) works primarily with acrylic, gouache, and drawing materials to create broadly interpretative portraiture and fable-like scenes that explore the relationships within relationships, bodies within bodies, and the sometimes clashing, sometimes harmonizing images we see of, and imagine of, ourselves. Their work enlists stylized interpretations of identity, self, and the wildness of being.
Wren is a resident of Western Pennsylvania by way of Oil City and Pittsburgh, PA. They are a 1991 graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
