In this new body of work, Rick Bach explores the tension and harmony between the natural and the industrial. Inspired by forests—their density, rhythm, and quiet resilience — Bach translates organic forms into metal and paint. Steel and aluminum become stand-ins for bark and root, their surfaces layered with color and corrosion to suggest growth, decay, and renewal.
Each piece is a meditation on transformation: how nature reclaims what we build, and how we, in turn, try to recreate its beauty through our own materials. The forest becomes both subject and collaborator—its patterns, textures, and silences echoing through the hard edges and luminous surfaces of the work.
