MICHAEL WALSH

Walsh was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived and worked throughout North America, most notably Toronto ON, Miami FL, and Oakland CA. He presently lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA where he has founded an artist run sculpture studio.

He is a catalyst, igniting a continual discourse about the history of metal sculpture and modern industrial and digital processes. As a Pioneer of the Graffiti Sculpture movement Michael has worked tirelessly over the past two decades to develop both his work and the movement’s forward trajectory.

He has exhibited his works throughout North America and Europe, Including The Carnegie Museum Pittsburgh PA, The National Archaeological Museum in Florence Italy, Burning Man in Black Rock City Nevada, and The Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto Ontario. In 2014 he attended the Digital Stone Residency in Tuscany, Italy.

His work is included in private collections, and in permanent public displays. Recently he has received a grant from the S. Kent Rockwell Foundation, and is the 2017 recipient of the Kiski Award.

Walsh’s work has been featured in Architectural Digest, MakeZine, and in The History of American Graffiti By: Roger Gastman and Caleb Neelon.
