MARCH 8 - APRIL 19, 2025
In this exhibition Judy Barie has taken the opportunity to arrange her work in a way that focuses on the negative that is as equally important as the positive shapes. She arranges them thoughtfully, organically, and with subtle and bold placements, resulting in a rich flow of color and patterns.
The paintings are created on birch wood panels, by mixing and pouring latex and oil paints simultaneously. Many layers result in a balance of unforeseen elements and happy accidents, which the artist celebrates. For Barie, painting is an intimate, self-involved craft, a gestural marriage of materials. The resulting abstract compositions highlight her pure love of paint.
