AMANDA SCUGLIA

Amanda Scuglia uses traditional mediums of oil painting and printmaking to examine our intuitive and spiritual relationship to nature. Drawing from life and painting en-plein-air are integral parts of her practice.

She is a 2018 recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant. Amanda received her MFA in 2013 from the New York Academy of Art, where she studied anatomy and figurative art, and was given the David Kratz & Gregory Unis scholarship of merit. She has been awarded a number of artist residencies including the Terra Foundation of American Art in Europe located in Giverny, France (2012), Altos de Chavon, Dominican Republic (2013), and the Eric Fischl Teaching Residency at West Nottingham Academy in Maryland (2015).

Other creative projects have included serving as a props stylist for a Bjork music video, drawing live models at various high-profile events, and painting for Liu Bolin - which brought her on set in Iceland for a collaboration with Annie Leibovitz and Moncler. She has been interviewed by Sotheby's blog for her work exhibited in the Accessible Art Fair New York (2016). After living and working in New York City for over a decade, she relocated to her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
