People, places and things - this is what surrounds us, what we see as we live our lives. Our ability to capture images with our handheld devices has become a standard practice. We carry these images as memories, on our phones, tablets and computers. We share them through text messages, on social media.
As an artist Shawn Watrous is always looking, always taking pictures and making drawings. He captures his life, and the world around him as he sees and experiences it. The paintings in this exhibition are an expression of that experience, of looking, of seeing, of remembering.
The kind of experiences we all have, in a standard day, a standard week. The standards we keep that define the objects, places and people in our lives.
