One Hand Clapping was a process and series of e-mail “postcards” that began in April of 2005 and lasted a decade. The intention of the project was simple: The sharing of images as a sort of greeting, offered as a respite from other concerns, a momentary meditation before deletion. The medium of e-mail underscored the ephemeral nature of the photographic content, itself evanescent.

The project was about time in a broader sense, too — its passing, its meaning, its nature. 

Inevitably, One Hand Clapping was about also digital photography — the technology, the evolution, the increasing ease of dissemination.

While some of the images from this internet-based media project have been shown publicly over the years, this exhibition was the first time that all (almost 1,000 works - including videos) were shown together.
