DECEMBER 4-19, 2015 • THE MINE FACTORY
These recent works are a personal exploration of the landscape and our structures upon and within them as a temporal experience, or an almost febrile hallucination. Like drifting through our own lives as visitors, we long for an understanding of where we are and where we have been. Using marks and lines, shape and color, with texture to recreate a memory of a place that may be real or imagined, Michael attempts to capture the sensory memories and feelings of an experience within a specific place. Working on multiple pieces at a time, slowly adding and subtracting, marks and layers, until the image becomes it’s own truth and it’s own memory.
