Linda Price-Sneddon’s work is born of the land and its forms, macro and micro. Her process is both scientific and intuitive, often utilizing an underlying set of rules to initiate a work but with final resolution both intuitive and emergent from the physical properties of the material.
Early training at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art imparted a strong classical foundation and in particular, pleine aire landscape painting in all conditions including inclement weather. Extensive color training inspired my usage of vibratory color relationships in an exploration of the physics of human perception and color as energy. Training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston provided immersion in contemporary methods and practice.
Her paintings and installations have been shown widely in New England and the Pittsburgh area. She’s held artist residencies at numerous New England schools and institutions including MASS MoCA’s Kidspace and The Fuller Craft Museum and received grants in support of her work from the Greater Pittsburgh Artist Council, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Berkshire Taconic A.R.T. Fund,Target Foundation and Citibank.
Recent projects include the video installation S.H.E. Emergent at the Boston Center for The Arts “Feminist Futurist” exhibition and the exhibition Hearts So Full at Zynka Gallery in 2020, stage set design for the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble’s at City Theatre in Pittsburgh in 2018 and an exhibition of works on paper at Chautauqua Institution Strohl Gallery in 2017.
